Earthdance 2009: Northern California

On September 26, over 200,000 people, from England to Indonesia, the States to South Africa, Earthdance festivals around the world will unite for understanding, dance, and global peace.  The festival will be celebrated on the International Day Peace at over 300 locations across the world, including 25 events in the U.S.

Even more than peace, Earthdance brings people together for total harmony, to be reminded of the connection and responsibility we all share to the Earth and life.  In light of this world conscious, the festival is making admirable efforts to reduce environmental impacts of the events, including on site recycling, biodegradable eco-dinnerware, soy-based ink on recycled flyers, and even powering the stages with bio-diesel fuel.

Welcoming our differences, the festival also promotes the sharing and preserving of all culture and heritage.

Being of peace and dance, music and mind, enlightening activities such as meditation, yoga, workshops, and live music aim to open participant’s thoughts to a new and higher perspective.

Some Earthdance gatherings, such as that in Northern California, will also feature an array of natural artwork, activist outlets, healing sessions, and lessons from the Elders Council.

Though what would be community and culture without a little music?  Earthdance strives for diversity; to represent styles all music, from young America’s rock/pop/dance scene, to the more ancient sounds of drum circles and rhythmic chants.

Earthdance in Northern California will be host to musical main stage performances by STS9, Indie.Arie, Galactic, The Devil Makes Three, Crown City Rockers, Lafa Taylor, Medicine Drum and more.

Other performances include Undergorund Orchestra, Big Gigantic, Pnuma Trio, Ecto, OTT, Blue Tech, Moonalice, and comedy with Wavy Gravy and special guest.

For over twenty years Earthdance has united people all around the world for environmental, political, and spiritual well-being.  And now with the Internet, millions more will join when, at 4pm (pacific standard time), every event around the world will simultaneously play the specially produced song “The Prayer for Peace”.

Celebrate for global peace and harmony at Earthdance Festival and “give peace a dance.”
