Monolith Festival 2009 Top 10 Performances

MONOLITH is only a couple days away and its time to get your gear together.  Heres everything you need to be ready.

-The stage and time of all performances have been released, check it out and make a schedule to see all your favorite bands.

-There is no camping at MONOLITH.  To make sure you have somewhere to stay at nights end, visit http://www.monolithfestival.com/travel/travel/lodging_and_hotels-3 to see a full list of official MONOLITH lodging.  Though if this isn’t your style, Red Rocks is surrounded by State and National forest, allows festival goers a quick and easy ride to their camp site.

Need a ride to MONOLITH?  Due to high demand, MONOLITH and Esurance have teamed up with Zimride to give to a carpooled ride to MONOLITH.  This latest effort reduce Carbon Emissions of the festival is only one of many ways in which MONOLITH is allow festival goers to be more earth friendly.

1. MSTRKRFT – Despite mixed reviews of their latest album Fist Of God, MSTRKFRT puts on a live show that will likely be of the most energetic party you’ll ever go to.   MSTRKRFT is on their worldwide Fist Of God Tour.  For more infromation check them out at http://www.myspace.com/mstrkrft

2. Mars Volta – Constantly breaking down the barriers of sounds and rhythm of experimental rock, Mars Volta is currently promoting their latest album Octahedron at some of America’s biggest ampitheters and festivals.  Check out their latest album and tour dates at http://www.themarsvolta.com/home.

3. Passion Pit – Riding high off the success of their second album Manners, and the instant popularity of their single Sleepyhead, Passion Pit has swept synth-pop fans off their feet, adding a much needed uplift of epic sounds and sing along anthems to the scene.  See them at http://www.passionpitmusic.com/

4. Yeah Yeah Yeahs – If your not a fan of Yeah Yeah Yeahs it unlikely you will be anytime soon, though for most for you out there, you’ll already been listening to their latest album, It’s Blitz since its March 10th release earlier this year.  Check out their latest videos for Heads Will Roll and Zero at http://www.yeahyeahyeahs.com/

5. Phoenix – The best band to come out of France since, ever,  Phoenix further drives the frontiers of Euro dance rock sound with delicate vocals and dance along rhythms.  Check out all they’re up to at http://www.wearephoenix.com/

6. Monotoxic – carrying Rock ‘n Roll into the new century with rebel fist pumping guitar riffs and one of a dirty voice, Monotoxic seem unstoppable in their campaign to rid the world of normalcy and safety first thinking.  Check out the hell raising at their site http://www.monotonix.com/

7. Of Montreal – Canada’s always changing, forever indie supergroup, Of Montreal has been surprising fans and foes alike with their groovy anything but sanity live shows for over decade.  Check out some of their music, videos, and photos at http://www.ofmontreal.net/

8. Girl Talk – though many would argue its really not much a performance, Gregg Gillis of Girl Talk mixes up one hell of a party.  Remixing songs his Macbook, Gregg gives fans a mashup of hip-hop and pop favorite with digital samples and blended beats.  For Girl Talk’s latest album can be downloaded for how ever much you want to pay, even for free, though if you like it, support the music!  Check it all out at http://www.myspace.com/girltalk.

10. The Dandy Warhols – Playing music since the mid 1990’s, The Dandy Warhols have gained a loyal an hard fought following the good old fashion way, hard work.  Though their latest album The Dandy Warhol Are Sound was released to less than impressive fans and critic reviews, its impossible to go worng with one of the live shows.  Visit them at http://www.dandywarhols.com/

As with most festivals, MONOLITH favors the early bird.  All single day tickets bought before Sept. 10 are $59.50 while two day tickets are discounted 5$ each at $110.00 total.  Tickets bought the day of the festival will be marked up to 65$ for each day.  To purchase tickets visit http://www.monolithfestival.com/tickets.
