Chad Ochocinco is back at it again. The twitter fanatic posted earlier today that he was going to give $10,000 to his millionth Twitter follower. While Chad has gotten lots of negative press in the past by for his on field dancing and bad boy image he is doesn’t do much more then talk confidently about himself. Chad is without a doubt one of the most charitable athletes in all of sports. Chad often has movie nights where fans come to the theater and Ochocinco picks up the bill. Ochocinco doesn’t just treat his fans to a movie and popcorn but he commonly tells his Twitter followers to meet him at restaurants for a free bite.
You may recall Ochocinco made news on May 30th when he attended a fundraiser for Children Mending Hearts organization in Hollywood, Calif. A 9 year old fan Ruben St. Hilaire, Jr who lives in a homeless shelter with his mom in New York wrote a letter which ultimately won him an autographed jersey from his favorite player. Ruben read a thank you letter on stage and little did he know that chad was in the back about to surprise him with one final gift, meeting him in person. In the letter Ruben said
“Mr. Johnson, you really make me happy. One of my goals in my future life is to be just like you when I grow up. I wonder who was your role model when you were little? I have three role model(s) in my life that’s my mom, Mr. President Barack Obama and my favorite football player Mr. Chad Johnson. To me you are the best football player in the NFL. May God bless you and your family happy holidays.”
Things like this make you realize that he is one of the most stand up guys in the game.
Ochocinco recently ssaid how much he loved Twitter because the media can’t hide the real Chad. He expressed how he loves the way he is able to connect with his fans. In my opinion there needs to be more athletes who interact with there fans and give back to the ones who them so much. Ochocinco may get a bad rep for dancing on the field and changing his name but at the end of the day he is the guy at the bar drinking cranberry and Redbull, not making it rain on stripper, drinking Purple Drink, or driving drunk and hitting pedestrians like other NFL stars.
