Vikings Favre ‘Unretires’ for a Third Time

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre is up to his old tricks yet again.

A day after saying that ‘this is it,’ Favre is up to his old ways ‘unretiring’ a day after he had told teammates and those around him that he would call it quits after a 19-year career in the NFL.

Favre’s streak of 285 consecutive starts behind center was put in jeopardy, but the wily ol’ veteran pulled an ace from his sleeve and professed he would continue to play if his health allowed him to do so.

Still, in light of the following news, Favre can expect to receive a hefty pay raise once the season starts as well as another chance to play for his second Super Bowl. The Vikings have offered to ante up $16 million for Favre to play next season, plus another $4 million in incentives that could come from his performance on the field. In total, Minnesota is willing to pay Favre a cool $20 million for potentially two-years of service, $7 million more than they were initially set to pay him for the 2010-2011 seasons.

Favre is expected to take the rest of the summer to evaluate his health with his agent Bus Cook saying,

He’s working out really hard and everything seems to indicate that if he is healthy and can contribute and play at the level that he has become accustomed to, he will play.

One thing every NFL fan should know by now is that Favre can never make up his mind and stick to his decision. This scenario is no different.
