“You tweet them, we sing them. Simple as that 🙂 Songs in 140 characters”
One of the reasons why I love Twitter is these two guys who call themselves @wesingyourtweet. It’s amazing how such a simple idea could be so entertaining if done right and I know from personal experience these guys do an amazing job one every single “Sweet”.
The rules are as easy as 1-2-3; You tweet, they like, they sing.
Kevyn Smith and Jeremy Johnson began doing “Sweets” as an experiment last year but it has become so much more. It’s only a matter of time till this experiment becomes an everyday job for the duo. Personally, I love seeing their “Sweets” in my timeline everyday. It’s just different from anything else in there and that’s what makes them great.
Here is the “Sweet” they did for me http://bit.ly/iAG5QG !!!
We got a chance to ask them a few question.
RBG: “Tell me more about how all this got started.”
“We began last summer. We saw an opportunity to do something different and unique, so we did it, and got a great response, and the word started getting around. We felt like we had tapped in to something special. And we figured, why stop now? We are at 800 Sweets, give or take. There are a lot of Twitter users who have been Sweeted and don’t know it.”
RBG: “How long does it take to make a “Sweet” and how exactly do you choose which ones get the treatment?”
“Sometimes a Sweet Session can take hours just to get a few that feel good. Other times, they flow like mountain spring water. We imagine it’s very similar to what Britney or Rhianna go through when they choose their songs – the words are already done, they just have to bring their magic to it. It’s very much the same for us. The Twitter users are the lyricists, and we bring out the artistry in their words.”
RBG: What’s the next step or what does the future hold for @wesingyourtweet?
“We’re preparing to go electric soon, just like Dylan in 1965. It might bum a few people out, and we may lose a few followers, but that’s to be expected when you try something different. And we will be opening up the online store shortly – we are finalizing sticker and T-shirt designs from some great up-and-coming designers. We’re very excited about that. We’re also looking forward to Brock’s Picks, a review of some of our past Sweets as selected by our archivist Brock. Plenty more in the incubator, but regardless of whatever else happens, the Sweets will continue to roll.”
All you have to do is ask for one and they will put together a memorable “Sweet” for you. Be sure to check out their site http://wesingyourtweets.posterous.com/ or simply follow them on Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/wesingyourtweet) for your daily dose of entertaining “Sweets.”
