50 Cent – The Lost Tape

On his first Gangsta Grillz mixtape ever, hosted by DJ Drama of course, 50 cent wanted to take it back to the old days. He had been his own marketing genius from the get-go, often giving himself credit for creating the mixtape hustle. Once he was already big in the business, he set up thisis50.com in order to release his mixtape tracks to “bootleggers” as he puts it. So that the name would get out there, and the sales would show when his album dropped. Now, he wanted to spend more time focusing on the music.

The Lost Tape takes us back to the album that got him big in the first place, Get Rich or Die Trying. He asked his fans if they’d be shocked if he released something like that again, if they thought he could do it. It appears here that he made it happen. Take a listen and decide for yourself.
