Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania based rapper Wiz Khalifa is making waves. His first single, heavily techno-influenced, “Say Yeah” charted on the Billboard Hot 100 list among other charts in 2008. Since then, Khalifa has been exploring the median in which techno and hip-hop collide. The results of the collision are almost always euphoric. After his first single’s success, Khalifa left Warner Bros. and released Deal or No Deal in 2009. Rumors have it that the Wiz signed with Atlantic Records in April 2010, but still, this is just a rumor.
The Wiz gained a lot of attention for his remix of Empire of the Sun’s, Walking on a Dream. Where he dictates his current, and ideal life. The reoccurring dream and positive addiction to champagne cannot be forgotten. He retitled the track, The Thrill.
Releasing his first mixtape in 2005, the Wiz kid currently has released 10 mixtapes, relentlessly self-proomoting himself through medians like Facebook and Twitter. Currently, Kush and Orange Juice has been popping up almost everywhere.
Khalifa’s fans follow him everywhere. So far, Khalifa has appeared on the cover of XXL Magazine, and his performed at the South by Southwest music festival and is set to perform at the Rock the Bells festival along with Wu-Tang Clan, Rakim, KRS-One and Slick Rick.
