Manny Ramierz has been claimed by the Chicago White Sox according to sources close to the situation. Teams from the National League had the first pick at Manny however no team was interested in a deal. In the AL, the Rangers and Rays were interested in claiming the veteran outfielder but the White Sox were awarded the claim because they have the lowest win percentage among interested teams.
The White Sox now have until Tuesday at 12:30 PM to work out a deal with the team. The Sox could defiantly use a little kickstart in their offense and the designated hitter spot is a perfect fit. The Sox trail the Twins by 3.5 games in the AL Central.
The ball is now in the Dodgers court because they have the option to pull Manny from the waiver and holding onto him, try and work out a trade with the Sox, or let Ramirez walk and the force the southsiders to pick up his contract.
Kenny Williams and his White Sox had their eye on the Dominican in July before the trade deadline in hopes of finding a way to fill gaps in the line. I think this is just what the Dr ordered.
