About a year ago rapper T.I. was arrested on federal weapon charges when 3 machine guns, 2 silencers and 3 other firearms were found in the car he was driving, six additional firearms were found at his home. T.I. posted 3 million dollars for bond and went home to Henry County, Georgia under house arrest to start working on his latest album “Paper Trail.”
T.I. decided to take a more “old school” approach when recording this album, reverting back to the formula he used when recording his first releases, I’m Serious and Trap Muzik. The formula is simple; write down the lyrics. On T.I.’s last few releases he would go into the booth, record and be done. While working on “Paper Trail” he recorded over 40 songs, even one with Fall Out Boy, and slimmed it down to the best 16.
“Paper Trail” is an amazing, diverse album that features sampling from M.I.A. and songs featuring Jay-Z, Rihanna, Usher, Kanye West, Ludacris and Lil Wayne. Each essential track brings something different to the album, making it well-rounded musically and lyrically.
If you aren’t familiar with this album, or you’re judging it solely off of his first single, “Whatever you like,” you aren’t getting the full experience, do yourself a favor and pick up this album now.
