UPDATE: DMX released from prison after serving 18 days of 90 day DUI sentence from probation violations.
Rapper DMX, currently serving his six month time for violating probation, is suing his copyright administrator. A complaint was filed in New York Supreme Court, Earl Simmons (DMX) claims that “Rich Kid Entertainment owes him more then $1.5 million. DMX’s complaint is that the company had fraudulently misrepresent his rights in an attempt to collect more revenue. DMX’s says that Rich Kid Entertainment was only authorized for certain songs produced back in 1998. The rapper that has sold more then 30 million records is clearly barking up a storm in jail. In the suit claims that Rich Kid was using false licensing document and using the tracks to mix and reproduce new songs.
The claims are breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, unjust enrichment, conversion, imposition of a constructive trust, and accounting.
