Move this, flip that. Season this, season that. – Get out the boom box, the grill, the cooler, the meats, good company and an appetite. Hell, a Frisbee, bocce ball set, game of catch or just tossin the ol pigskin will set the mood just right. Relaxation and dedication are the name of the game when it comes to a good grill out. Be sure to be completely dedicated to making the best possible chops and brats you can – but also be able to be relaxed in the process, because nothing kills a buzz more then a bad attitude at the BBQ. Cut it out – not needed. Take a time out and toke if that’ll cheer you up.
“Vinnie, Where the F are the tongs!”
After completing 3 barbecues in one day, I began to think things over. Was it bad that I’ve consumed 2 steaks and 3 cheeseburgers in one day? Is it bad that we grilled out twice the day before and twice the day after? I came to the realization that, yes, this is bad. But not because what you would think.
It’s bad because I had been drinking throughout all of these barbecues. If I would have cut out the drinking, maybe it would have been better. (Does this sound like a dedicated carnivore to you?) Things went wrong, all of a sudden no one wanted anything but barbecued chops and burgers. Chicken was thrown on also.
Let’s get it straight here.
There is nothing like grilling out. The food network needs to get a host who cooks his/her chops and brats on a 22″ Weber with Kingsford coals and whatever beer is hanging around. We were ballsy enough to be drinking “Beer 30” – Some crap beer from a sketchy gas station.
Well what are you waiting for? I’m praising BBQ’s after ingesting several pounds of BBQd meats. Did I mention I had ribs as well? Get the grill out and make that fire! It’s the one connection you have with your eldest ancestors. You cooked over an open flame.
Enjoy your food!
