Hellogoodbye is four frivolous guys who, in the midst of it all, had their hearts in the right place when they formed this band in 2002. Pouring from their hearts emanates an undeniable love for emo, pop-punk, and catchy dance music.
The series, “Saved by the Bell ” also holds a place in the band’s collective heart, given that the band’s name is taken directly from an oft-quote phrase by Screech Powers, himself one of the most emo characters in television series history.
Hailing from the West Coast, Hellogoodbye created a big enough buzz off of their freshman EP to get slotted on the Van’s Warped Tour’s lineup as well as be featured on Music Television (MTV).
This follow-up album should only make things bigger.
When listening to “Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!” prepare to be struck serenely by the peaceful aura that arises when the soft synthesizer combines with frontman Forrest Kline’s voice and the beat begins to escalate. Akin to an ounce of a carefree childhood, the feeling is chill.
This record has myriad similarities to Panic! At the Disco’s “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out,” however Hellogoodbye’s work is much more relaxed, in contrast to PATD’s high-energy sound. One can crank up Hellogoodbye while in many different moods, especially those in the relaxed spectrum.
“Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!” Is an incredible first full-length album that can be listened to at any time of day.
There are many things in this album that are musically innovative as well as enticing. Listen to this album once and your interest in “Hellogoodbye” will grow and grow.
