Wale’s highly anticipated “More About Nothing” mixtape will not disappoint. With Wale rapping in a clever fashion about his life in a comedic manner, while being truthful, this could easily be Wale’s best work to date. The Washington DC rapper came back from his previous mixtape “About Nothing” with another classic. In both albums he bases the mixtape around the American classic sitcom “Seinfeld.” In between Wale’s laid back style he strategically adds quotes from the Jerry Seinfeld, George Costanza, Elaine Benes, and Cosmo Kramer. This adds to the music due to him rapping about relevant topics. I think this is a brilliant way for him to broaden his fan base while continuing to keep his big fans happy.
The album provides depth which can make your emotions change in the snap of a finger. In some songs Wale provides up beat anthems like “The Black N Gold” where you feel like your listening in the club. In others such as “The War” tone is much different. The Song The “War” features Daniel Merriweather, and is a ballad about a “war” between men and woman. “The Breeze” features the one and only Wiz Khalifa which makes for an instant A+. Even NBA star Kevin Durant appears in the album when he praises his fellow Washington DC native in “The Best In The League”
Whether you are just a rap fan that has never really given Wale a chance or been a fan since his early days this mixtape will impress. It is similar to his last Seinfeld album,”About Nothing,” but adds much more flavor.
