According to NEMS360.com, Tupelo, Mississippi is the answer to that question as the former Comedy Central star and standup comedian Dave Chappelle made an appearance at one of the town’s local bars.
Apparently, the Lucky Joe’s bar in downtown Tupelo was beginning to close down when Chappelle and company came to the door for some late night R&R. Gasway, the owner of the bar, was star struck by Chappelle’s visit saying, “That was one of the coolest things ever, to see somebody that huge, it was just amazing to have him here.”
What makes the article and rare sighting of Chappelle even more entertaining is the comment someone left for NEMS360 about their findings saying, “Is this what the paper has become. I think I was abducted by aliens last week but it didn’t make the paper.”
Whether Chappelle showed up to a bar in Tupelo is still up for debate namely because of his meltdown and disappearance from the media limelight in 2005. Finding news on Dave Chappelle is like finding news on who killed Notorious B.I.G.: it’s just not happening.
Who in the hell has ever heard of NEMS360 anyways, or would ever believe the short snippet they provide to be accurate?
You get the feeling that it could be one of those rare leprechuan sightings, infamously made known when residents of a small Mobile, Alabama town said they encountered the little creature of Irish folklore.
Take it for what it’s worth Dave Chappelle continues to lead a life of mystery, staying away from the media spotlight that once made him one of the funniest people on television.
