Carlos Zambrano has been traded to the Miami Marlins pending a physical. In return the Cubs will receive veteran right handed pitcher Chris Volstad. Oh and the kicker the Cubs will pay 15 of the 18 million still owed to the pitcher. Even though Zambrano had a full no trade contract with the Cubs he decided to join forces with friend, fellow Venezuelan, and now manager Ozzie Guillen.
The move is just the latest by new general manager Theo Esptein and put together a trade that can help both clubs. Unfortunately for the Cubs is that contract they still have to pay. On the other side of the coin, the Marlins continue to add big name players to their roster to make them a team that will make you even more intrigued to watch as the season approached closely.
In Zambrano’s career with the Cubs he had 125-81 record with a 3.60 ERA. Despite Zambrano’s numbers the pitcher became a common problem in the Cubs clubhouse which eventually left to his demise in Chicago.
